Has anyone else noticed that ever since Bruce Gallaudet is back on the sports desk at The Davis Enterprise, the quality of the writing, the information in the articles and even the bylines, subject matter and focus on the people has been much improved if not downright superior?
I’d be the first to admit that as an older member of the Davis community, I have been skeptical of the modernization changes that the paper management has made to keep the format fresh, and the business model competitive. That’s another letter, because this is about Bruce’s increased role as beat reporter, one that I feel epitomizes all that is great in a local paper.
Bruce’s connection with the town is evident at every turn in his writing. He leverages the very fabric of our community to make those all-important connections among us, our beliefs, our ways of getting things done, our self-image, our trials and tribulations, our connections to our past and our common goals, all through the lens of our sporting endeavors.
These kind of efforts are what make our town great, not just average. Good job, Bruce, well done!
Good job, Enterprise. Keep making it happen.
