Headline was offensive

By From page A6 | February 19, 2014

I winced when I opened last Tuesday’s sports section and caught the heading of a story about the Davis High School girls basketball game: “Laugher with Laguna preps Lady Devils for Friday crucial.” It does not matter that the final score in that basketball game was 75-18. I do not know of any parent of a child playing sports who would ever want a defeat to be referred to as a “laugher.”

I did not go to the game, but I am sure the Laguna Creek players played their hearts out and never laughed at the score. Writer Chris Saur encourages Devil fans to attend the next home game. If we treat our opponents this badly, I will not support any games. Chris, you owe the Laguna Creek players and your readers a heartfelt apology.
