Help clean up Little League complex

By From page A6 | January 21, 2014

I am writing to let the Davis community know about a very important upcoming event. Davis Little League is having its first Community Volunteer Cleanup Day at the Little League fields (corner of F street and Covell Boulevard) on Saturday, Jan. 25, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This is a great opportunity to help out our community and to improve conditions at our well-used hometown ballpark. Many people of Davis were Little League players and most have even played on these exact fields when they were young. Little League is a great place for young players to gain experience and make new friends and memories. Having a nice, clean and safe ballpark is key to having a good experience. We need your help.

Volunteers can just show up on Jan. 25 or they may sign up on the Davis Little League website, www.davislittleleague.org, and follow the link. Volunteers will help out with many projects, such as redoing the announcer’s box, building shade structures, fixing the fences and general cleaning of the whole park. Bring tools, wheelbarrows, rakes and work gloves if you have them. Lunch will be provided.

We could really use your help. I will be there with many of my friends to contribute to our hometown Little League ballpark. Hope to see you there!
