Help our kids with a click

By From page A6 | November 21, 2012

Teachers and parents give students the building blocks they need to learn and grow, but sometimes they can use a little outside help. Willett Elementary School now needs help from the Davis community!

We have only 55 computers and 10 hours of computer tech help per week on a campus that supports 530 students. These computers are used more than 20 hours a week by students in grades 2-6. Worse still, the computers the children are using to learn on were purchased in 2000. The lab budget funded by the PTA is only $2,500 for the entire year.

After a competitive national nomination, Willett Elementary is eligible to win up to $50,000 to revamp our computer technology on campus. Willett would like to thank iseeDavis.com and Coldwell Banker Realtor Jamie Madison for their sponsorship of our efforts to win.

Now through Dec. 19 at 8:59 p.m. PDT, adults and children 13 and older can visit www.PowerABrightFuture.com to vote every 24 hours. In addition, you can text your vote 377pbf to 45248. Willett can be one of only seven schools nationwide to win a grant, and it’s up to us to help push our school to the top.

Now it is time for Davis to show its strength and support Willett to win. Check out iseedavis.com for new videos each week highlighting the importance of the computer lab to our campus.

Please vote twice every day through Dec. 19!
