Holmes roadwork is ill-timed

By From page A10 | September 11, 2013

The following is a copy of a letter to Davis Mayor Joe Krovoza:

I have never written to a council member before but had to on this one. I just received a voicemail from Holmes Junior High Principal Derek Brothers informing us thatĀ over the next 40 days, construction will be taking place in front of the school. My daughter goes to Holmes.

This is why I hate government. Your road maintenance department had from June until the end of August to complete this work. What do they do? They plan if for when everyone knows that school is in session and what a huge headache this will cause for everyone who goes to this school.

This is just typical of government. Why do it at the perfect time during the summer? Let’s wait until it will cause the most disruption.

I am sure the person in charge of the project will have some great reason, but I can give him 600 (the number of students at Holmes) reasons to not do it.
