Ideas floated to save adult care

By
From page A14 | October 23, 2011 |

Thank you to our wonderful caring community of Yolo County. Yolo Adult Day Health Center, in partnership with Woodland Healthcare, sponsored a community forum on Oct. 4. Its purpose was to discuss the impact of losing Medi-Cal funding for the disabled, frail and elderly people in our community who depend on the adult day health program.

As you know, I recently wrote a letter asking people to care for those in our “village.” Well, 60-plus people expressed their concerns that night. This forum was the beginning of the discussion to figure out how to ensure health services and caregiving assistance to those who need it most, our frail and elderly.

Thank you to Woodland Healthcare, Yolo County, Friends of Adult Day Health Care, Atria Covell Gardens, St. John’s Retirement Village, Palm Gardens and The Californian, who provided expertise, forum support and tons of food.

Also, I wish to thank the wonderful community members and leaders who provided thought-provoking concerns. I am proud to be a part of this wonderful county. Thank you again.

Peggy Phelps

Caregiver resource specialist, Yolo Adult Day Health Center, Woodland
