My interest was piqued as soon as I read the headline: “Group Forms to Support Firefighters.” Everybody is concerned about sufficient protection by our Fire Department. I started reading and made it as far as paragraph 2. Got partway through and there it was: the words that assure I will likely not give much credence to what their message is. Friends of Davis Firefighters say their mission is “to educate the community …”
Any time an activist group says they want to educate me or anyone else what they are actually saying is: If you do not support our stance 100 percent then you are misguided, ill-informed or what they really want to say is you are stupid.
I did read the entire article just to see who they are and what they want. The group is run by a paid lobbyist, and appears to have at least one lawyer who wants to be a politician. It also appears to be heavily tainted by a special interest union activist.
Bottom line, I will likely never be educated to a level these people will find acceptable so I’ll just ignore their very skewed message.
