We are a few parents with children starting seventh grade at Holmes Junior High School this fall. We’d like you to know that there is a possibility for Holmes to offer Chinese Mandarin at its school site if there is sufficient enrollment.
Holmes Principal Derek Brothers is willing to explore this possibility. However, he will need to see how many students are interested before giving the matter further consideration. If you have sixth-grade children who are interested in taking Chinese at Holmes, we strongly encourage you to:
* Indicate your interest clearly in any blank space on the “Seventh Grade Course Request” sheet that is due Thursday.
In addition, we’d like to make an effort for this possibility to become reality for this and future school years. If you are interested in having your children (any grade level) taking Chinese at Holmes either this coming year or in future years, please do the following:
* E-mail Rui Chen ([email protected]) or Ying Fang ([email protected]) with your name and your children’s names and current grade level.
We will compile a list to demonstrate to school authorities that there are enough people interested. Remember, it takes effort for good things to happen. Let’s express our interests!
Rui Chen and Ying Fang
