Japan still needs your help
Monday is the second anniversary of the March 11, 2011, earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan. This tragedy was broadcast all over the world, and many people came from many countries to help: more than 12,000 volunteered.
But what about today? It is true that we no longer need volunteers to rake mud, remove debris or serve food. However, great needs remain. Today, fewer than 500 volunteers remain at the disaster sites in Japan. They are giving mental health care to thousands of survivors and providing support for rebuilding hundreds of neighborhoods.
If you would like to participate in this crucial restoration process, we would be grateful for your volunteer or financial support. Some nongovernmental organizations we can recommend are International Medical Corps, Japanese Medical Society of America and the Help Japan Recover Foundation.
