Keep promises to senior citizens
Being in health care, I would like to share some of my thoughts about what is going on in our country about Medicare and seniors. This issue has come up in our local 3rd Congressional District race as I have seen a number of letters to the editor discussing John Garamendi’s record in this area. Please consider my perspective.
While in Congress, Garamendi voted for the health care law, which has cut $716 billion from Medicare. That is essential funding for this highly valuable program on which many seniors rely. These cuts are going to be devastating for seniors who are dependent on this program to provide the health care services they need. It seems to me that someone who votes for these tremendous cuts to such an essential program is decidedly not on the side of seniors.
What I want in Congress is an honest representative who will work to keep the promises that America has made to its seniors. While Garamendi purports to support Medicare and seniors, he would like voters to forget the damage he has done to the program. Worse than that, he doesn’t think the health care law is wide enough in its scope and thinks it should go further. One wonders what other cuts he would like to make to Medicare!
