It was with great interest that I read your lead story about Kim Wallace in the Feb. 19 edition of The Enterprise.
It was my pleasure to work with Wallace immediately before she was hired by the Davis Joint Unified School District. There is no doubt that she is an outstanding educator and administrator, but most notable to me was her ability to earn and maintain the respect and trust of the culturally and ethnically diverse student population that attends our school district. For many, this is not an easy bridge to cross, but she truly “cornered the market” in this regard.
It is also encouraging to know that the district recognizes Kim Wallace not just for her obvious academic and leadership skill, but also for her intellect and technical abalities. Like most other educators, I, too, believe as Kim expressed it, that “student achievement is our ultimate goal,” and not just another tired political platitude.
I am reassured that Kim Wallace, and hopefully others like her, will come forward and continue to lead and inspire future educators and their students.
