Thanks to everyone who came to Davis Farmers Market’s Fall Festival on Oct. 26. We couldn’t have done it without the help of our farmers, food vendors, Davis community organizations and volunteers.
Thanks to our farmers, food sellers and crafters who provide the perfect setting for Fall Festival.
Our heartfelt thanks Grace Valley Christian Center and the UC Davis Campus Rotaract Club for providing dozens of dedicated, hard-working volunteers. Thanks to Soroptimist International of Davis for sponsoring the pumpkin patch, to Woodland farmer Jim Neilson for bringing baby pigs and to Davis High School’s Future Farmers of America for bringing their glorious chickens and coloring activity to the event.
A round of applause for Norwood 4-H, West Plainfield 4-H and Golden Valley 4-H for their imaginative Halloween crafts for kids. A heartfelt thanks to the California Raptor Center for bringing its magnificent rescue birds for show and tell. Thanks to Greenich’s Acres for bringing a petting zoo and pony rides.
Our deep appreciation goes out to Davis Farm to School for inviting Dominique Machi, director of Student Nutrition Services at the Davis Joint Unified School District, to sample his pasta pomodoro that often graces the school lunch menu. High-fives to the UCD Chemistry Club and Explorit Science Center for their captivating, interactive science booths. A tip of the hat to Campus Rotaract for creating hundreds of beautiful harvest headdresses at their booth.
Thanks to Central Park Gardens for hosting a plant sale (benefiting the gardens) and seed-planting activity for kids, while also offering free flower seeds and eco-friendly gardening information. Hats off to Peter Franklin Band for their crowd-pleasing Americana music and to Damento — Davis/Sacramento — who entertained us with flair in mid-air. Finally, thanks to everyone who attended to celebrate the harvest season!
