Measure I is too costly

By
From page A6 | February 13, 2013 |

Our city services bimonthly bills are high enough and continue to go up every year. Davis officials are fixated on obtaining water from the Sacramento River. What about groundwater from nearby locations to Davis, including Conaway Ranch? Why has this not been looked at more closely?

What about the less costly option of obtaining river water from West Sacramento. Why were we not provided other options to vote on?

Many homeowners already leave their lawns and vegetation brown during the summer to reduce their costs. This eyesore will get worse if Measure I passes. How many cost increases and taxes can our citizens incur before we say no to all future proposals? I believe the citizens of Davis would rather spend their hard-earned money on schools and other more worthwhile endeavors than a costly way to obtain river water.

Continued increases to the cost of living in Davis will push middle-class families out and leave only the rich or those citizens that obtain subsidies from paying the larger fees. With the continued cost increases, I am certain my children will not be able to afford to live in Davis when they are adults.

Please vote no on I.
