I support Rochelle Swanson for City Council, for her commitment to our community and our environment, and her experience and hard work on economic development over her four years on City Council. Rochelle is a natural problem-solver with the experience and knowledge to help Davis through the difficult times before us.

Rochelle works tirelessly for Davis, including leading the “Cap to Cap” committee in Washington, D.C., to advocate for local economic development. Her volunteerism as president of the Davis High School Blue & White Foundation in 2010 to help raise much-needed funds by DHS was successful and commendable.

I support Sheila Allen for City Council, for her hard work and commitment serving on school board, and her experience on financial issues. A public health nurse for 28 years, Sheila has a natural desire to care for our community. She is founder and executive director of the Yolo County Healthy Aging Alliance, served 10 years on First 5 Yolo and was chair of the Yolo County Health Council.

Having people who’ve lived here long enough to understand the issues, with budgetary analytical experience, and who’ve put in the time to serve are critical attributes needed now more than ever.

I support Dan Wolk for Assembly because he has done a great job on the council, has incredible integrity and has worked hard on social services issues, clean energy and our city’s economic development, budget and finances. Dan has fought to protect our water for our community and agriculture.

He served on the Social Services Commission before becoming a City Council member, helping the underprivileged, disabled and elderly. He founded the Legal Aid Clinic of Yolo County, providing aid to folks in need, and his background as an attorney is invaluable.

Finally, I support Larenda Delaini for Yolo Superior Court judge. Unlike any other judicial candidate, Larenda lives not only in Yolo, but in Davis. She has an exemplary career as deputy attorney general and as an adjunct professor at Sac State and has a history of giving back to our community as a volunteer for Big Brothers and Sisters, the Student Buddy Program and VIP Mentors.

This election is so critical to the future of Davis and our region.
