Our city’s taxing mistakes

By From page A6 | June 18, 2014

According to those who never met a tax increase they did not support, we need yet another new parcel tax to fund our road maintenance. They say we need it and that the money will not be used for increasing any city employee pay and benefits.

But this is a disingenuous claim since the tax increase is demanded to cover a previously funded obligation that was unmet because the funds were used instead to pay for employee pay and benefit increases.

They took the money and created city workers who are the new millionaires, including the value of their grossly generous pensions … and now they are demanding that we dig deep in our pockets yet again to cover their mistakes.

When will they learn?

When will we learn?
