Petition seeks a GATE evaluation

By From page A6 | February 05, 2013

The Davis school district has expressed an interest in making a thorough evaluation of the current GATE/high-achieving model. But the directive to make that evaluation and present any modifications must come from the school board.

Some members of the school board have said they don’t believe the Davis community is interested in having an evaluation of the GATE program. In response, a group of local parents with children both in GATE and not in GATE have started an online petition requesting the school district/school board to make an honest, open evaluation of our current GATE model, as well as alternative models used in similar communities.

If you agree with our district administration, that an evaluation is necessary and long past due, please let the school board know by adding your name to the petition. You can access the petition at change.org. Enter “djusd evaluate” into the search bar and it will display a petition titled “Evaluate the Current GATE Program and Investigate Alternatives.”

Read the petition, and sign if you think it’s a reasonable action for the school district to take. If you are reading this online, the link to the petition is:
