Plastic bag issue deserved a vote

By From page A6 | July 18, 2014

I do not like the plastic bag ban for several reasons.

First, I think it should have been voted on by the people of Davis. Are we a democracy or not?

Second, I do not like bans on things. Talk to people about using fewer plastic bags. Don’t treat us like we can’t think for ourselves. Again, put it on the ballot. I can think for myself, thank you very much.

Third, the whole “CO2 is wrecking the world” theory has not been fully proven. The real elephant in the room is the fact that magnetic north is moving about 40 km a year toward Russia. It is the position of magnetic north (and south) that causes seasons to be (or not) and how much heat and light parts of the world get. The tilt of the world is shifting, people. Of course it is changing our weather. It is probably the main reason there is a drought.

Lastly, we voted on having a Target in Davis. Why did we not vote on plastic bags? What do you think?
