Play presented with authenticity

By From page A10 | August 06, 2014

There is only one weekend more to attend the outstanding Acme Theatre Company’s production of the powerful play, “The Rememberer” by Steven Dietz, based on the memoir of Joyce Simmons Cheeka.

Her memoir describes the shameful period during which the federal government forced Native American children to attend federal boarding schools in order to deny them their cultural heritage. Director Emily Henderson and company members consulted with several Native American historians and researchers in order produce this play with authenticity.

I would urge you to to see “The Rememberer.” Shows are planned Thursday through Sunday at the Brunelle Performance Hall at Davis High School, 315 W. 14th St. For information, visit¬†www.acmetheatre.net.
