Americans can pressure Israel to stop killing Palestinians by boycotting Israeli goods and companies. Israeli products contain a bar code starting with “729.”
Also, the following companies, some of which are Israeli, produce goods sold in the United States and support Israel: Kimberly-Clark, Sodastream, Sabra Hummus (sold at the Davis Food Co-op), Coca-Cola, Intel, Nestle, Starbucks, Fox News, Ahava, Victoria’s Secret, Motorola, Danone, Naot, McDonald’s, Keter Plastics, Estee Lauder, Johnson & Johnson, L’Oreal, Caterpillar, Hugo Bass, Calvin Klein, Clinique, Hewlett-Packard (for retina scanners), and Ralph Lauren; and Israeli diamonds, cheese and dates.
In May, the General Conference of the United Methodist Church called for a boycott of all Israeli companies “operating in the occupied Palestinian territories.” The church also announced its overwhelming support “for an end to military occupation and human rights violations through nonviolent actions,” which include boycott, divestment and sanctions.
It called on all nations “to prohibit any financial support by individuals or organizations for the construction and maintenance of settlements and the import of products made (in settlements.)”
In July, the Presbyterian Church USA overwhelmingly passed a resolution calling for the boycott of products made in Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank. As a Christian, I ask your support for this boycott. Thank you.
