Poppenga’s positive, diplomatic
I have had the privilege to work with Bob Poppenga for approximately 10 years. Although he has a low-key approach to managing the people he supervises, his approach is very effective. He believes in listening to all opinions and that good ideas come from many sources.
He knows it is important to communicate clearly and to keep everyone in the loop about important topics. He is very positive, level-headed and diplomatic. He is fair in his evaluations and has an open-door policy for anyone wanting to talk to him about any topic of concern.
He has demonstrated that he can work effectively with a diversity of people to get results. He has high expectations for his laboratory staff, but believes that high expectations are most often met when staff members are allowed flexibility to use their own unique skills to accomplish the overall goals of the unit.
I believe he would bring the above leadership skills to the school board and work collaboratively and professionally with other trustees, school personnel and parents to move the district forward in a positive way. I don’t believe the Davis community would find an individual more committed to our collective success or to recognizing the unique contributions that each individual brings to meeting the educational goals of the district.
