Thank you for your extensive coverage of the senior citizens’ meeting on Aug. 14.
The proposed bylaws were unanimously rejected. I was amazed and stunned that the president, John Gerlich, totally ignored the voices and votes of 250 senior members, rejecting the proposed bylaws. What arrogance!
On numerous occasions, Gerlich has refused to provide his reasons or justification for the rejected bylaws. In lieu of any reasons, we must believe what the bylaws propose as his intentions. He wants unfettered control of the organization and its funds, with no interference from or concern of the membership. He wants to be chairman of a financial committee that can invest donated funds in any scheme or uninsured investment he chooses. I’m sure he would be hard to find if these schemes failed and all the funds were lost.
All members should stay informed, attend meetings and continue to vote “no” on bad board proposals.
