Freddie Oakley is not our choice for clerk/recorder/assessor.
Effective managers lead by example. Freddie Oakley does not hold herself to a higher standard of conduct that effective managers employ.
Her elitist attitude is demonstrated by the selfish choices she makes in the workplace, such as smoking in the non-smoking areas of the County Administration Building where it impacts her subordinates, or opting to use her disabled placard in a disabled parking space very close to her already reserved county parking space, so that a family member can park in Oakley’s reserved space.
Her disregard for employees and the public as well as her personal and unfounded attacks against the management and employees of the Assessor’s Office for political gain, demonstrates a pattern of arrogance and disregard toward others. This is not the example that should be set by a manager or leader.
Reportedly, another county assessor/clerk recorder/registrar of voters has voluntarily recused herself from counting the votes in an election in which she is a candidate. She requested that a member of the grand jury shadow her through the election process to avoid any appearance of impropriety. This is leading by example, and holding oneself to a higher standard.
