The assumption continues that the money put into our schools is directly responsible for the outstanding test scores and college acceptance rates. I think it might be due more to the fact that most children in Davis are “home-schooled” in that their parents expose them to art and travel and political ideas and provide health care and many other opportunities.
Yes, Davis High School has a fantastic music program but these students are also fostered with the plethora of private voice and instrument teachers. People make a fine living at tutoring in Davis and private test-tutor businesses are plentiful. Private art and language and dance classes fill up immediately.
Why does the Davis Joint Unified School District get credit for what we as parents provide for our children?
I voted “no” on Measure A and will use my $200 to directly support the few who don’t have these advantages.
