Teachers support Fernandes

As the Davis Teachers Association Political Action Committee, representing a variety of educators from across the district, we have been working over the past month to interview, research and seek input on the candidates running for school board and seeking appointment to the board. Many of the candidates are qualified, but we feel after our hours of work, that Alan Fernandes is the most qualified, prepared and dedicated person that the board could choose to appoint.

In 2012, Alan was endorsed by the DTA because it was clear to us then, as it is now, that he is dedicated to working to improve the district by listening and involving all stakeholders. This is even truer today, as Alan comes with relevant experience on the school site level, as well as district level through his work on the Parcel Tax Oversight Committee and the Strategic Planning Committee.

We have heard from several DTA and community members about the care and consideration Alan puts into his work, his passion for the education for all students and his ability to bring people together for a common purpose. Alan understands the important connection between the students and the people who work with them day in and day out, and knows that supporting the students of this district means supporting the educators of this district.

We are confident that Alan will make a great board member and provide positive leadership to the important task of educating the students of Davis.
