Bimonthly billing is just fine

Re: City Council wants water users to get timely data, May 23

We do appreciate the thought of our City Council to keep our water usage on our minds on a monthly basis, but not at an additional cost of nearly $200,000 a year ($84,000 for adding monthly meter reading services and approximately $102,000 a year for additional staff time to prepare monthly bills).

We prefer to pay every two months and use whatever increase charges that will naturally be added to our bill to revamp our landscape.

May I make a couple of suggestions? First, is it possible for those who want to know their monthly usage to request it and pay for the additional costs without affecting the entire city? Secondly, PG&E is able to offer flat-rate billing that is adjusted at the end of the year. Could that be an option for some people? Perhaps interested people could learn how to monitor their own meters?

The new water rates are heavy on our minds. Adding more administrative costs will not help. Please keep our household on a two-month billing cycle.
