Thanks, Davis, for honesty

Last Friday I did some shopping in Davis. On my way home, I realized I had lost my wallet. I remembered putting it on the seat beside me when I sat down on a bench. I hurried back downtown and began walking up and down every street, trying to find that bench. When I finally found it, I went into a dress shop nearby and asked if anyone had turned in a red wallet. The employee said no, but told me where the police station was so I could report my loss.

I went back outside and stood on the sidewalk for a few minutes trying to gather my worried thoughts and praying. Suddenly, a young woman came walking down the street toward me. “Are you Mary?” she asked. She told me a kind lady had found my wallet and brought it to her at another dress shop right next to the bench.

We went into her store and I got my wallet — with everything still in it, every penny! I was so relieved! I just want to thank the lady who found my wallet and the one who kept it for me. I don’t know their names, but they did me great favor that day and gave me a good impression of the people in Davis! God bless them both!
