Thanks for a fantastic art auction

On behalf of the Pence Gallery board of directors and staff, I would like to send our appreciation to the many individuals and businesses who contributed to making our annual Art Auction on Sept. 20 a huge success.

First and foremost, our appreciation is extended to the 140 artists who contributed work to our auction display, as their generosity and creativity were essential to making this event a possibility. I am still impressed, even after many years at the Pence, by the high level of dedication that artists feel toward the gallery.

Collectors such as Rob and Lacey Thayer and Dick and Judy Wydick were instrumental in contributing works of art for sale at our auction. The Davis Art Center also graciously allowed us to include several pieces from its collection for sale. Lastly, our appreciation goes out to the 120 patrons who attended the event, and purchased great works of art.

Sponsors who contributed delicious food and wine to our event included Fiddlehead Cellars, Dos Coyotes Border Café, Seasons, Caffé Italia, Nugget Market, Davis Food Co-op, Ciocolat and de Vere’s Irish Pub. Coffee was provided by Peet’s Coffee & Tea.

General event sponsors included The Artery, Davis Art Center, All Star Rents, Watermelon Music, Parcel Dispatch PDQ, Merrill Lynch/Scott Motley, Brooks Painting Inc., Dave Scheiber/State Farm, Doug Prichard/State Farm, Dr. Henry E. Bennett DDS, Carbahal & Company, First Northern Bank, Kim Eichorn/Lyon Real Estate, Schindler Elevator, Raven’s Corner Framing and Tandem Properties.

Special thanks go to Sue Smith and Carol Smith for overall coordination of the event, John Bonner for being our live auctioneer, and Nancy Roe for contributing her lovely flower arrangements. The names of the many volunteers who assisted with the event are too numerous to mention, but we thank each and every one.

Proceeds from this event to help the Pence continue its 38-year mission of serving the community with outstanding exhibits and programs by local and regional artists. It was a fantastically successful auction, and we have the community to thank for that.
