Thanks for supporting arts

By From page A14 | October 27, 2013

In these times of diminished funding for many school programs, it is critical to recognize and support the local organizations that help keep some of our important school programs going. One such organization is the Davis School Arts Foundation, which raises money to fund art and music programs in all the Davis Joint Unified School District schools.

Over the past 35-plus years, DSAF has funded elementary school choruses, instrument repair, strings replacement for our orchestras, and various art and music projects in all levels of our schools. These have had a lasting impact on the students and many of these projects have resulted in art installations that are permanently displayed at the schools.

DSAF’s money comes from community memberships and donations as well as donations in honor of loved ones. A big shout-out of gratitude to a few of our major contributors: Watermelon Music, the Brunelle family, Danny Tomasello of MOMS and Davis Music Fest, and a downtown Davis businessperson who wishes to remain anonymous.

We want to thank these important contributors, and all of our individual contributors, for their generosity. Because of their support, DSAF, in partnership with DJUSD, was able to contribute $48,000 last year to arts and music programs in our schools. Please say thank you and be sure to support the organizations that have so generously donated to DSAF!
