Vote no on punitive rates

By From page A6 | February 19, 2013

The reason to vote no on Measure I is because of the undetermined variable rate each parcel will be charged for an entire year. Consider the following three items before you vote.

* Whom do you contact when your water rate is five times that of your neighbor and you are sure your rate was miscalculated by the computer billing process?

* How much will it cost you every time someone in your household flushes the toilet, takes a shower or washes clothes or dishes, compared to the cost for the water you drink.

* What happens to your water rate when the river becomes a muddy stream? Research what has happened on the Mississippi River this year.

It’s the rate that is the problem here. Vote no because the rate is punitive for many parcels.
