My children are the third generation of my family to call Davis home. After growing up here, I moved back to Davis to raise my family knowing that this community would provide a safe, healthy and nurturing environment for my children.
Over the years, I have fought to uphold the values of this community — strong public schools, access to healthy food and a commitment to the greater good. I have been active in supporting Davis’ schools by volunteering to help pass the many parcel taxes that have come before our voters and serving on the board of the Davis Schools Foundation.
This month we have the choice to improve our community’s infrastructure for decades to come, leaving this community better than when we came into it. Clean and sustainable water is not just an issue of community health and environmental sustainability but of setting a good example for generations to come. We need to take responsibility and fix this problem before we leave the next leaders of our community with a more expensive and less desirable solution.
Our children should not be the third generation of Davisites trying to tackle our deteriorating water infrastructure. Please join me in voting yes on Measure I.
