YOLO COUNTY NEWS
99 CENTS

We saluted our heroes

By
From page A10 | April 04, 2014 |

A heartfelt thank you from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6949 and all the veterans in our community for a great “Salute to Heroes” Valentine’s Day pancake breakfast. A special thank-you to First Northern Bank for cooking at and marketing our event. Thank you to the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts of Davis and our VFW Post 6949 Da Vinci High School intern Emma.

Donations from the breakfast make it possible to sponsor Memorial Day and Veterans Day events, flag retirements and replacements, Yolo County Military Families and school scholarships. We were glad to see UC Davis student veterans and UC Berkeley Navy ROTC cadets in attendance. We are already planning for next year.

Jay Brookman, Lt. Col. USAF (ret.)
Commander, VFW Post 6949, Davis
