I found myself puzzled as I read the report that Claire Pomeroy is to be honored as a Safety Net Hero (“Pomeroy To Be Honored as a Safety Net Hero,” Davis Enterprise, March 17). In the piece, Pomeroy is described as “fostering an institutional commitment to address the social determinants of health.”
She is one of the high-paid executives threatening to sue the University of California for increased retirement benefits. I certainly don’t see her fostering an institutional commitment to address the economic determinants of the UC system. There seems to be somewhat of a disconnect here.
