Why prevent reuse at DWR?

By May 28, 2011

As a student at Patwin Elementary in Davis, I have been learning about the concept of “reduce, reuse, recycle.”

I was surprised when I saw the sign, “No Salvaging” at the Davis Waste Management Recycling Center. There were many useful items there that people could reuse, such as benches, containers and good pieces of wood. It is a good opportunity because people don’t have to buy something they can reuse and reduce.

That is why I am so confused. Reduce, reuse and recycle is an important concept, so why aren’t we allowed to do it?

P.S.: We read Thursday’s paper every week in our class.
