Women’s history lunch a success

By
From page B3 | March 27, 2013 |

The Yolo County Women’s History Month Committee would like to thank everyone who attended and supported the 26th annual Women’s History Month luncheon on March 7, at the Woodland Community & Senior Center. The luncheon was a sold-out fundraiser, benefiting the public libraries in Yolo County. Approximately 200 guests attended the event.

The committee would like to thank UC Davis Chancellor Linda P.B. Katehi, the 2013 speaker for the luncheon, for her participation in the event. On behalf of the committee, Dotty Pritchard, president of the Yolo County Women’s History Month Committee, presented a check from the proceeds of the luncheon to representatives of the Yolo County and Woodland public libraries for the purchase of women’s history materials.

The committee also would like to thank the many sponsors who made the luncheon possible. In particular, the committee greatly appreciates the generous contributions of UC Davis; Clark Pacific; Kevin Haarberg; Davis Odd Fellows; Pam Marrone, Marrone Bio Innovations; Yolo County Clerk Freddie Oakley; Yolo County Public Defender Tracie Olson; Teichert; and state Sen. Lois Wolk.

The committee also must acknowledge the support of the city of Woodland, L & S Printing and Charles McDonald, who volunteered to take photographs at the luncheon. A big thank you to Strelitzia Flower Company, which provided the lovely floral arrangements for the tables and bouquets. The committee greatly appreciated the outstanding job the Anderson Family Catering & BBQ of Winters did for the luncheon.

Thank you to the Yolo County Board of Supervisors and Woodland Joint Unified School District Board of Trustees for adopting proclamations recognizing 2013 as Yolo County Women’s History Month.

Without all the help from the community, individuals, sponsors and businesses, the luncheon would not have been such a success. Year after year, they have continued to show their support. Thank you to everyone who helped with the luncheon.
