Last year I was honored to be on the selection committee for the first Sacramento Business Journal Health Care Heroes honor. The committee selected from the nominations that were submitted and the honorees were written up in a special supplement to the Business Journal. Because this recognitioin was new, there were very few nominations from Yolo County.
Now all of us know health care heroes in our midst here in Davis, Winters, Esparto, West Sacramento and other parts of Yolo County. So, please submit a nomination by Friday for the second annual SBJ Health Care Heroes Award by going to this link: http://www.bizjournals.com/sacramento/nomination/45561.
And, remember, a health care hero is not just a doctor or a nurse, although there are indeed heroes among our clinical providers. But sometimes they work in community-based organizations; sometimes they work for Yolo County; sometimes they go to our churches/synagogue/temples; sometimes they are elected officials; the list could go on and on because health care is so pervasive in our lives. If you think about the so-called “social determinants of health,” you know that there are health care heroes everywhere.
So, let’s honor our Yolo County heroes by getting them nominated! Remember, the deadline is this Friday.
