"After Measure C passed in March, they laid off 47 teachers anyway, greatly affecting the children’s education instead of making it better, despite the fact that saving the teachers’ jobs was a tactic used to pass Measure C. The school board canceled language classes, deceiving the taxpayers."

And here's Granda's deception.

The school board was very clear that Measure C would not completely close the budget, that additional cuts would be needed.

The Enterprise went so far as to correct your statement the last time you brought it up, citing four stories it had published indicating the school board's clarification on cuts. Click <a / rel="nofollow">here</a> and find the correction at the end of your letter. If you can't be truthful in your statements, even after being corrected, how can you expect to be trusted as a school board member?

If you really think it's bad to lay off teachers and that it negatively affects children's education, then support Measure E. The state has proven unreliable in funding local schools all over the state. Measure E allows us to have a local say in what kind of schools we want.

If you think that the school district has been specifically irresponsible in budgeting, then find us a California school district that has kept it all together, and let's start the discussion there.

Maybe someday the sheep of Davis will wise up and finally say no to a school tax measure and force the school board to start budgeting properly. As long as they know that all they have to do is throw another tax out for the lemmings to bite on they'll always come back for more.

Wow! This is one of the longest naive and superficial articles on educational finance I have read in quite a long time.

Maybe the authors were trying to "dumb it down" for their perceived audience or maybe.....

I intend to vote for this Measure and also to vote for intelligent representation on the school board. They have a difficult job leading a complex organization and from the RESULTS they get, it seems like they do a pretty darn good job.

This is money well spent as far as I am concerned. Support Measure E.
