Thanks for your article Dr. Rode!

For anyone whose dog has been diagnosed with diabetes, I have a website and forum that offers great information and support from people experienced with caring for a diabetic dog.

Our dog Chris was diagnosed in 2003 at 9.5 years of age and passed away in 2008 at 14.5 years from complications of heart disease and cancer. Thanks to home blood glucose testing, his blood sugar was well controlled despite his other many challenging health issues.

If veterinarians find that their clients are overwhelmed by the idea of injections or home testing, we have video tutorials that demonstrate both and can relay the experiences of our many members that giving injections and managing diabetes is not as difficult or scary as it sounds.
