And look what happened: for the murderer is was like shooting fish in a barrel, i.e., like Newton, like Aurora, Virginia Tech, etc.
On a more personal (and local) note: we need guns to protect ourselves from the Daniel Marshes of this town and elsewhere.

Are you trying to say that the NRA has more power than the mainstream media? Clearly it doesn’t. Why is gun control politically toxic? Not because of the NRA but because people like their guns. You frame your argument to suggest that the NRA is bullying the public and congress. The loud voice is the mainstream media which is for stricter gun control. The NRA uses its much smaller voice advocating gun ownership rights. The public is siding with the NRA. If not, the push for gun control would not be politically toxic. I am not a gun owner or advocate and would like to see legislation for stricter background checks but people want their guns. It’s really that simple.
