Send Hugs From Home

What: Supplies, cards and cash donations collected for “Hugs From Home” care packages for local military personnel deployed to Afghanistan. Suggested items are travel-size dental supplies, deodorant, sunscreen, foot powder and lubricating eye drops. Sudoku and crossword puzzle books are very popular, as are 3-by-5 spiral notebooks, cough drops, socks and men’s insoles (size large). Single servings of flavored drink mixes and coffee are welcome; other popular food items are ravioli, tuna fish and snack foods, along with hot sauce.

When: Through Friday, Nov. 1

Where: Redwood Barn Nursery, 1607 Fifth St.; Davis Police Department, 2600 Fifth St.; Harrison Self-Storage, 2323 Second St. and 200 Madson Place; First Northern Bank, 434 Second St.; American Red Cross, 120 Court St., Woodland; First Northern Bank, 11 W. Court St., Suite A, Woodland; Tri-Counties Bank/Bel Air Market, 1885 E. Gibson Road, Woodland; and Life Point Church, 1616 West St., Woodland (Monday through Thursday only).

Also needed: Cash donations to help cover postage costs and to purchase special items; accepted at all of the banks mentioned
