Alex Messbarger, Air Force load master, Davis

Laura Blyth

homemaker, Davis:

“My dad is a Korean War veteran and he’s benefited from the GI Bill and benefits, because it allows him to live in assisted living.”

Alex Messbarger

Air Force load master, Davis:

“My grandpa; he was in the Navy and he’s actually a huge role model. I’m in the Air Force, so that was a huge impact on me joining the military as well.”

Christopher Buckels

graduate student, Davis:

“My grandfather is a veteran. It’s great to hear his stories from World War II.”

Johanna Buckels

stay-at-home mom, Davis:

“My maternal grandfather was a veteran of World War II. (As a child), I remember going through his things and finding a bullet that had been shot into his boot. That was my one and only experience understanding a piece of what a veteran goes through in war.”

Andrew Dowling

Realtor, Davis:

“(I have) nothing but the utmost appreciation for veterans and the job they’ve done. My father served in the military many years, and I know lots of veterans.”

Rebekah Donaldson

business owner, Davis:

“My domestic partner is an ex-Marine and he served in Somalia. And I think about veterans and … about how we support veterans every day now, and I didn’t before.”
