What do you think? How involved should parents be in their child’s high school athletic career?

By From page A11 | February 23, 2014

Amanda Harter

event coordinator, Redding:

“I think in any endeavor they should be supportive of their kids, but some parents take it too far. Sports can be a great outlet but if they put too much pressure it can be counterproductive.”

Maria Lampe

student, Davis:

“I think they should really be supporting them. I think it’s good when they do sports because school is a lot of pressure and it’s good to do something after school.”

Ismael Blanco

student, Davis:

“Very involved, but not to the point where you’re taking the enjoyment out of it.”

Jason Villarreal

engineer, Seattle:

“I think they should be supportive but not forceful with sports.”

Jordan Jauregui

cook, Sacramento:

“Eighty percent, because they should have (kids) grow up healthy and not be obese.”

Arika Marroquin

nanny, Dixon:

“I think they should be involved because their kids should be healthy to play better.”
