Jocelyn Williams, retired educator, Los Osos

Jocelyn Williams

retired educator, Los Osos:

“I’ll be voting for ending the death penalty. I don’t believe in it, and the process takes so long and costs so much just to get to that point. Mostly, I just don’t believe in it.”

Elizabeth Saft

psychologist, Davis:

“Yes; it’s uncivilized, it’s contradictory and not part of a compassionate world.”

Simon De Vere White

restaurant owner, Sacramento:

“I voted yes on it (via mail-in ballot). I believe in the death penalty, but I don’t believe the system is currently working.”

Ross Hammond

guitarist, Sacramento:

“I’m undecided on that one. … I’ll have to look at it, though.”

Abe Matsui

student, Davis:

“Yes; I don’t feel humans own the right to decide if (other) humans can live or die.”

Lucy Hammes

retired, Davis:

“I’m in favor of getting rid of the death penalty, for a number of reasons: I don’t think it’s a deterrent, I think innocent people have been put to death and I think it’s very costly.”
