Enjoy Quail Ridge Reserve in spring

By April 14, 2011

The Quail Ridge Wilderness Conservancy will conduct an early spring walk in honor of forthcoming Earth Day from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at Quail Ridge Reserve.

The reserve is located on a peninsula at the southwest end of Lake Berryessa, and the easy-to-moderate walk through native grasses, shrubs and trees will be led by QRWC Executive Director Frank Maurer, a zoologist and ecologist. Wildflowers should be in full bloom, and participants will have the chance to listen to local bats and forest owls at dusk.

The temperature will likely be mild; visitors should bring binoculars or a camera, drinking water and a snack. All participants must leave the reserve at the same time. The walk will be cancelled only in the event of substantial rainfall during the day.

Walkers should reserve a place in advance by calling (530) 219-4477 or (530) 758-1387. Donations will be gratefully accepted.
