Davis resident Ryan Cuvelier, 11, helps spruce up Hall Park in Dixon as part of Mormon Helping Hands Day 2013 on Saturday. The statewide day of service organized by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints included more than 75,000 volunteers throughout California. Locally, 400-plus people from the Mormon churches in Davis, Woodland, Dixon and Winters cleaned up five parks and two schools in Dixon. “It’s very easy to quantify in dollars what kind of financial impact this day has on the city, but it’s more than that. This is an opportunity for friends and neighbors of all faiths to come together to strengthen our community,” said Ryan’s dad Cory Cuvelier, who serves as president of the Woodland California Stake, which includes eight congregations of the LDS church in Davis, Woodland, Winters and Dixon.
