California’s secretary of agriculture and the director of Oregon’s Department of Agriculture will be among those discussing the potential impact of the federal Farm Bill on agriculture in Western states during a May 14 conference at UC Davis.
Other speakers for the daylong event at the UCD Conference Center are set to include:
* Joseph Glauber, U.S. Department of Agriculture chief economist, on what the Farm Bill does;
* Hyunok Lee of the UCC department of agricultural and resource economics, on risk management and crop insurance policy;
* Joseph Balagtas of Purdue University on changing federal dairy policy;
* John Antle and JunJie Wu of Oregon State University on federal conservation, energy and climate policy.
