Davis homeowners are invited to a free educational workshop starting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, to learn about practical and affordable ways to improve home comfort, conserve energy and save money on monthly utility bills through the statewide Energy Upgrade California program.

Residential property owners can hear about energy-saving home improvements, learn how to access rebates up to $4,000 and hear from local contractors who are certified to participate in the Energy Upgrade California program.

According to event organizer Kim Garrett, outreach specialist from Ecology Action, “Sometimes it’s hot, sometimes it’s cold; the great thing about energy-efficiency improvements is that they not only save energy and money, no matter what season it is they make your home more comfortable.”

The free workshop will take place at the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame, 303 Third St. Refreshments will be served between 6:30 and 7 p.m., followed by the presentation and plenty of time for questions and answers.

“For most people, there are two key barriers to increasing the energy efficiency of their home,” Garrett said. “The first is not knowing what to do and the second is how to pay for it. This workshop will address both of those barriers, and, as a special bonus, everyone who registers for and attends the workshop is eligible for a free energy assessment of their home.”
