By From page A4 | October 09, 2012

The Islamic Center in Woodland invites community members to its annual Peace Picnic from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at John Ferns Park, 750 W. Southwood Drive in Woodland. The Woodland Ecumenical Ministry churches will join the Islamic Center in providing food, games and entertainment. There will be a chance to learn to play cricket, do henna painting and enjoy music.

“With our newspapers and media screens filled with Arab Spring, civil war in Syria, drone attacks in Pakistan, the infamous YouTube video, the death of Ambassador Stevens, we need opportunities to meet and talk with our Muslim neighbors, to hear their views of current events, and discuss the hopes and dreams for our world and our country we all share as American citizens,” a news release said.

“It’s also nice just to talk about schools and gardens, recipes and work, as we watch our children and grandchildren play together. Hope you can come!”
