Annual Cache Creek fun run has a new look

By
March 28, 2011 |

The Cache Creek Conservancy’s annual fun run returns on Saturday, April 16, at the Cache Creek Nature Preserve west of Woodland.

This event is geared for people of all ages, with dedicated runners participating in the 10K event and those who like a more leisurely pace running or walking the 5K route. Families are invited to participate as a group.

A new course has been laid out for this year’s event, taking runners through the nature preserve and the neighboring Teichert land that has been restored. Runners will be on county roads for only a short stretch of the race. Most of the course will be on dirt trails along Cache Creek.

Same-day registration begins at 7:45 a.m. and the race starts at 9 a.m. Entry forms are available at the preserve or online at http://www.cachecreekconservancy.org. Completed forms may be mailed to P.O. Box 8249, Woodland, CA 95776.

Registration will be accepted on the day of the race, although pre-registration is recommended as space is limited.

Proceeds from the event go to the Cache Creek Conservancy’s scholarship fund. Each year, the conservancy awards a scholarship to a high school senior from Yolo County who is pursuing a degree in a resource conservation-related field.

For more information about the run or the scholarship program, call the conservancy at (530) 661-1070, email admincrk@yolo.com or visit http://www.cachecreekconservancy.org.
