Art, science meld for unusual lecture series

All are welcome at the next Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendezvous, a speaker series at UC Davis that focuses on the “borderland between art and science,” an organizer says.

The event is planned from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, in 3001 Plant and Environmental Sciences at UCD. A half-hour of networking will be followed by:

* Eve Warnock and Kate Harrington speaking at 7 p.m. on “We are HERD: Exploring Animal and Human Herding Behavior Through Research, Scenario and Performance”;

* Frank Pietronigro speaking at 7:25 p.m. on “The Expansion of the Arts, Humanities and Culture in Space Exploration”;

* Robert Buelteman speaking at 8:10 p.m. on “Energetic Photogrammetry: A History of Photographic Technology”; and

* Robert Edgar speaking at 8:35 p.m. on “Animating the Memory Theatre.”
