The Yolo Basin Foundation is celebrating its 24th anniversary with a show titled “Art and Photography of the Bypass and Beyond: A Celebration of Central Valley Nature and Agriculture” at Bucks for Ducks on Oct. 17.

Bucks for Ducks is the foundation’s annual fundraiser, and this year it will be held at The Pavilion on the UC Davis campus. The event showcases local artists and photographers who support wetlands education by contributing pictures for the show. The donated works will be sold to the highest bidders at Bucks for Ducks in a silent auction format.

The juried photography exhibit will include the following categories: plants, animals, landscape and open. All photos must have been taken in the Central Valley. Photographs should be submitted by email as jpeg files. The last day for submission of photos is Aug. 29.

All media will be accepted for the art portion of the show. Any work submitted must be inspired by life in the Central Valley and created in an 8-inch-square format. Yolo Basin Foundation has wooden panels available for painting and will deliver them to artists. In previous years, artists have created tiles and multi-media collages in addition to paintings. The art pieces are due by Sept. 26.

There will be special recognition and prizes for the three artists and three photographers whose works receive the highest bids in the silent auction.

The calls for entries with more detailed information may be found at the Yolo Basin Foundation’s website, www.yolobasin.org or by calling Ann Brice at 530-758-0530.
